Transformation

December 20, 2023

Why would we ever want to change …. to transform? … The bottom-line answer is that we all want peace and happiness but are disconnected from it. At our creation, peace, and happiness were placed in our souls, but we disconnected from them when our egos took control. So, our egos find their own ways to restore that peace and happiness. There are nine major ways that the human ego tries to restore the peace and bliss we were born with.

Those who think they have no peace because they do not love themselves and feel unlovable try to get peace by self-marginalizing. They anesthetize themselves to avoid all conflict.

There is no peace for those haunted by the perception that things are not right or perfect. So, they try to achieve peace by correcting all the wrongs in themselves, others, and the world.

Many think they’d have peace if they were valued enough and that if they give to others continuously, people will appreciate and value them.

Others are caught in the reasoning that they have no peace because the world is not accomplishing all that needs to be done. Also, they only feel worthy if recognized as successful in making something out of themselves and the world around them.

Some feel that their lack of peace is because they are insignificant, obscure, unknown, and unimportant. So, they try to find peace in confronting the situation by standing out and becoming different and unique.

There is a group who thinks they would have peace if they had complete privacy and that no one could get what they have, know what they know, take up their time, or demand anything of them.

Others think they’d have peace if only they were not so fearful. So, they use more influential people to protect them and seek security against whatever may frighten them.

Some think they’ll have peace in endless pleasures and distractions. Deprivation is considered the enemy of their peace, so they continuously dull their pain by over-indulging.

Others think they are weak and would have the peace they want if they were all-powerful.

As we see above, all nine basic egos have a plan to bring them peace. But it never works well enough to bring back the peace and bliss of our soul child years. The ego cannot be the peace of our souls. Many of our ego strategies cause us pain and suffering. When finally fed up with our ego’s wild goose chases, we are ready to do the work of transformation. This is the work of the soul.

Inquiry: Have you entered the work of transformation?

Dear God,

Transform us from our ego’s strategies to the heart of our souls. Amen.
