The Power of Healing

March 22, 2024

You are warmly invited to this week’s Daily Reflections on the subject of “The Power of Healing.”

Whether it’s from a small cut or an extensive infection, all of us have experienced healing. Healing is a natural process of the body, mind, and emotions. Although some maladies never heal, we witness overwhelming amounts of healing and restoration all around and within us. To discuss the things that have not healed is to open the subject of “Why is there illness and death?” That is a different discussion for a different day. But in this series, we reflect on the power of healing.

Healing is natural because our very cells are hard-wired to self-restore any damage sustained. When natural restoration does not seem to work, other people, whether professional or non-professional helpers, provide the appropriate medical intervention, technology, power of touch, listening, and hope, all of which are methods of ministering healing love. Yet we have immense power within our own being to heal ourselves.

What do you need to be healed right now? Is it a physical problem? Is it a mental challenge? Is it spiritual/emotional wounding? Is it a relationship? Possibly, it is a combination of all of these. Regardless of our hurt, there are principles of healing that have always existed and that healers have followed from the beginning of recorded history, irrespective of their level of practice or knowledge. These universal principles are here today, so we can use them however we wish. I have translated these principles into Enneagram language and called it The Enneagram of Healing.

1. Intuiting and discerning what builds our being and what tears it down.
2. Giving ourselves things for our wellness and becoming mindful of others’ wellness.
3. Actualizing the vital interrelationship between our well-being and everyone else’s.
4. Creating genuine modalities of inspired transformation.
5. Moving Divine wisdom from our essence into all mind, body, and emotional regions.
6. Learning from individuals and the larger community about healing practices.
7. Radiating the joy and hope nurtured inside ourselves and letting it flow into others.
8. Attuning to Divine vibrations and conducting them through us to others.
9. Embracing all aspects of Divine Love, including Holy Ideas, Virtues, and Essential Aspects, and shifting from egocentricity to soulcentricity.

Inquiry: Will you take your current need for healing and place it in the Enneagram of Healing? After addressing your specific need for healing to each of the nine points, what have you experienced?

Dear God, I pray to be healed of all that blocks my closeness to you.

Amen
