Curiosity
October 11, 2023
Some of us are insatiably curious. It is not only Ego Type Fives who want to know; any of the ego types can be unendingly curious.
One reason many of us are curious is that we want to know if our hunches are correct. We also wish to fill in the information gaps. Curiosity is a wonderful gift.
Those who are not curious do not want any more information. They operate in a fixed world that new information would disturb and complicate. But many of us are building our souls and seeking as much information as possible. To know more information may complicate our world, but as soon as we assimilate the new knowledge, we live in a newer, more conscious world.
“Every spirit builds itself a house; and beyond its house, a world; and beyond its world, a heaven. Know then, that the world exists for you: build, therefore, your own world.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson (Nature, chapter VIII)
Emerson was not referring to building a fantasy world of our own, but building our knowledge about reality. The ego tends to distort that reality; the soul (our spirit) on the other hand, grows to see all the levels of existence, even heaven.
Inquiry: Do you love to get new information even if it upsets your current world view?
Dear God,
Please show me the hidden things. Open my soul to all that you would have me experience. And give me strength, courage and discernment to adjust to the realities of the consciousness I build within me. Amen.
