The Power of Hope
December 13, 2023
What do we do when told that there's no hope? Do we believe it? Do we deny it? Do we rebel against it? Do we succumb to it?
What we do depends on which of our wills we choose. We have two basic wills. On one end is the will of our unchecked ego and on the other end is the will of the soul. Between these two extremes are many different shades of will.
The unhealthy ego fights, leaves or shuts down when told there is no hope. But the soul wills to be faithful even in seeming hopelessness. The soul's will is deeper and more powerful than the will of the ego. How can this be? It is part of the Divine. Therefore, the soul wills us to be hopeful despite circumstances because the soul is connected to the source of all hope and faith.
Those who strive for consciousness aim to access our soul when told there is no hope. The soul's hope is different from what the unchecked ego hopes for. The soul's greatest hope is for the will of the Divine to prevail, not the ego's will.
The will of the Divine is not always what we want. But in these cases, the soul trusts the Divine's will. The soul also trusts that we are given what's necessary to get through any suffering and reap its wisdom.
Inquiry: What does your will hope for?
Dear God,
Take me down to the spring of my life and shift me to the will of my soul. Amen.
