Attunement

When we think about our dilemmas, we feel anxious and our bodies naturally tighten. Whether they are recent occurrences or long-standing ones, our dilemmas can haunt us all day and awaken us in the middle of the night. We spend precious hours ruminating about these seemingly unsolvable situations.
Fortunately, there is a beautiful way we CAN approach seemingly unsolvable problems. This is done by accessing our soul child. We may think the obstacles seem too daunting, but our soul child is fresh, spontaneous, unconstrained and believes in miracles. The soul child is not an ego. Instead, it IS our transcendent self, not fixated on one approach, stance or reaction.
There is a simple procedure to shake us out of our old patterns and bring life. You can do it right now. It massages the part of the brain that activates our heart and soul by stimulating our early childhood APPROACHES to problems. The soul-child approach to problem-solving draws upon the magical, unbounded ideas, dauntless courage, unashamed spontaneity, confidence and simplicity. For the soul child, life is not a series of problems, but a gift box of opportunities in which we may experience the miraculous.
Think about your current dilemma. Now, gently close your eyes and imagine sitting on a swing with your adventurous soul child. Next, turn to the child and ask, "What do I do about (describe your dilemma)?" As you rock back and forth, listen to the approach taken by this unconstrained little being. Right now, I am doing this exercise with you and am rocking with and talking to and listening to my soul child for the next few minutes.
Wow. I'd never have come up with those ideas. One of them is to reach out to people who my ego believes would never return a call or answer my email because I am just a regular person. One approach is to take a financial risk for something extraordinary to happen for many people searching. Another is to play outside and trust that a certain situation is unfolding as it should.
As my soul child was talking, I noticed my ego brought up its usual reservations, warnings, doubts and massive obstacles. Finally, my soul said, "Wait a minute, I am the captain now!" My ego stood back and we listened to the adventurous, unbridled soul child.
I've learned many times that my soul's approach may seem outlandish but, if I sit with it, doable solutions emerge that my egoic self would never have conceived of.
Deeper Inquiry: Why did I try or not try the exercise? What does my answer to the inquiry teach me about my approach to problems?
Dear God,
Strengthen me that I listen to my inner being and approach my problems with freshness and empowerment, the seeds you planted in me at my making. Amen.
