Knowing The Inner Self

Step Seven, Number 8:

It's easy to sit on our qualities instead of applying them to bring about higher consciousness. But in knowing our divine attributes, we tap into the Sacred Power that created these qualities. When we access the divine within, we have a direct link to the Higher Power. When we accept our divinity and connect to it, we are more powerful than ever and can use our true selves to relieve suffering and help bring the world into higher consciousness. In Sacred Power, we are strong enough to be vulnerable, hear the truth and then move mountains.

Step Eight, Number 2:

Remember that spiritual arrogance is a form of pride that inhibits our progress. Pride blocks us from looking at our deficiencies, traps, avoidances and needs. Pride stops us from asking for help or noticing the real needs of others. Regardless of how wise we may be, unless we apply our wisdom to everyday life and relationships, we don't embrace humility, an essential by-product of genuine spiritual growth. Explore and enjoy your spiritual qualities as a gift to yourself and others. This is the highest form of Sacred Compassionate Benevolence.

Step Nine, Number 4:

Exercise self-compassion. Accept your imperfections as part of being human as you discover your false self, its narrative, defenses and misguided ways of dealing with the world. Then understand that we have a divine origin and as Desiderata says, "You are no less than the trees and the stars." You are exceptional, as is everyone, but in the space of Sacred Creativity, you have a piece to the puzzle that NO one else has. Let creativity be a resource for all your challenges because it is directly linked to the Divine Creator. You will feel full, free and happy once you have found your true nature. Remember that everyone has a divine origin; therefore, others are special too. An actual test of spiritual maturity is to be able to celebrate others’ victories, triumphs, rites of passage, winnings and successes, even when these may surpass ours.

Inquiry: Which of the nine steps would you place yourself on now?

Dear God,

Bless me as I take these steps into self-knowledge, and give me the compassion to understand that I will regress at times. Amen.
