Living in Essence

Many of us are drawn to children because they are so close to essence. Indeed, many of them are still totally in essence. They have not yet developed their ego, so all they have is their pure essence, soul, and soul child. But does that mean only the soul child can be in essence? No. You and I can be there right this minute.

All we have to do is recall the days when we were carefree and didn’t live in worry, envy, guilt, greed, fear, arrogance, self-pity, resentment, deceit, or self-narcotization. We were a free expression of being and perceived the world without distorted lenses or filters. We embodied and freely expressed the spirit but didn’t analyze it. We were content to just “be it”; to express our unfettered true nature.

Visualizing our soul child is a gateway to re-embodying our essence right now. As soon as we re-experience the feelings of innocence and trust, as soon as our heavy passions and current concerns vaporize, we feel full, free, and happy and want others to feel it, too.

So, when we look into a baby’s face, we see someone very familiar to us. We see ourselves. We, too, were once that beautiful being. But we forgot that perception of ourselves, even though that part of us is still alive and well in the depths of our hearts.

Spiritual self-actualization is one of the phrases we use today for living in the kingdom of heaven. And we can do this by returning to the simplicity of our childhood. “… and [he] said, Verily I say unto you, except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 18:3-5)

Inquiry: Why would you hesitate to embrace your inner child?

Dear God,

Return me to my true self and allow me to express that child as my being.
