The Living Document Part 7
As living documents, we constantly declare in thought, word, and deed our outward identity and our inner soul. Of course, how much of each we express depends on our connection to the ego and its healthy amalgamation with the soul. And this connection is composed of a different algorithm for each of us.
One thing for sure is that the algorithm mediating the expression of our ego and soul is organic. We express our ego and soul according to our ever-changing strength of will and our changing capacities. We express our ego and soul according to a varying level of access to all areas of our being. We also express ego and soul according to our differing stress levels, motivations, demands, and intentions.
Our spiritual practice is the one constant that ensures access to and enables us to express our soul regardless of the changes and demands of our life. Our spiritual practices align us with our true self and the Divine. The spiritual practice might not heal us, tell us how we are to proceed, or show us the things our ego blinds us to. But when it can’t do these things in and of itself, it leads us to the people who can heal us, to the experiences that reveal the best route forward, and to the wisdom that takes down the ego’s veils.
As living documents who lead the spiritual life, we must have spiritual nurturance to sustain our walk in the wisdom we hold.
Spiritual practice: Describe your spiritual practice. Is it doing for you what you need at this time of your life? If not, you may want to look at other spiritual practices to see if they can sustain you the way you need to be sustained now.
Self-inquiry: How does your spiritual practice mediate the expression of your ego and your soul?
Dear God,
On my knees, I collapse into your spirit for the sustenance you provide. Amen
