Yourself, as a Book About God
October 4, 2023
I go into my office and see the books on the shelves. Many I have read, others I am going to get “around to.” My books introduce me to worlds of thought and practice I received from the dear soul who wrote that book. That sweet soul valued their wisdom enough to share it. I am thankful.
Yet everyone of us has another library at our disposal that contains no books. This is a living library of dear souls. These are the people in our lives who, but for sharing their soul, we would not be the person we are today. Every time we come in contact with them, we become more. And some dear souls are no longer on this plane, but we still draw from their souls.
As was reflected about earlier this week, ancient mystic Meister Eckart said, “Everyone is a word of God.” Think of someone in your life from whom you learn and from whom you receive support and inspiration. Picture them in your mind’s eye. Can you feel in your heart the miraculous gifts they give you? Where else in your body are these feelings felt? What words would describe the gifts these dear souls provide you? These souls, these “words”, are from God.
Inquiry: How well-stocked is your living library?
Dear God,
I am so grateful to all those who teach me and feed me your wisdom. I would starve without them. Amen.
